These resources have changed how we communicate with one another.

Several months ago my wife signed up for a Facebook account and started learning the Social Media Lingo. She posted her profile, pictures, and searched for family members online. Before long she had developed a lengthy friends list and regularly viewed posts and pictures from family members she had not seen for some time.

I live over 2 hours away from the majority of my family members and don't get to see them as often as I would like. Facebook has helped us stay "in touch" with one another giving us glimpses into our daily lives. I think on one level it has fostered a deeper level of conversation because without having a "Poll question" or "Tagged" event there are things I may never known.

I read an article yesterday about a church that was allowing members to Tweet responses to the message during the service. I don't think I'm ready for all that yet. But, when asked if a Blog site can help our church, my answer is "Yes". Social media is another means for our church to stay in touch. It can never replace heart to heart conversation. But, I believe that social media is another "net" that the church can adapt to share the gospel. So, we are going through a website upgrade to add links to several social media sites. It will be interesting to see how it impacts our congregation.

I'll keep you posted. :))
